Dr. Christopher Mullins – Social Studies

Dr. Chris Mullins was born and raised in Columbus, OH. He is a graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus. Immediately after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman for over 12 years, primarily onboard nuclear submarines. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts degree with depths in health and social sciences at Excelsior College before his discharge from the Navy. He has subsequently completed a Master of Science degree in Physical Education with a specialization in Health Education and Health Promotion from Mississippi State University, an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctor of Education degree in School Leadership, both from Saint Leo University. Dr. Mullins has a Florida Professional Educator Certificate with endorsements in educational leadership (all levels), general science (5-9), social sciences (6-12), health (K-12), reading (K-12), ESOL (K-12), and exceptional student education (K-12).

Dr. Mullins has been in Southwest Florida since 2013 and has worked as an allied health instructor at Southern Technical College; middle school science teacher, social studies teacher, and assistant principal at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Port Charlotte; and lead middle school science teacher at Mid Cape Global Academy in Cape Coral. He is currently the world history honors teacher at Florida SouthWestern Collegiate High School in Punta Gorda, FL. Dr. Mullins has a passion for all things historical and has traveled to, or plans to travel to, as many of the places he covers as possible. Philosophically, he subscribes to the notion that a child doesn't care how much you know until they know how much you care and that kids don’t learn from people they don’t like.
